Cultural Beauties - wood block

Second major project for my traditional Japanese wood block printing class.

For this assignment we had to try out using colors, layering, and printing in different ways. The imagery had to be portraiture or images of ideal beauty. So I chose to contrast the modest, reclining Japanese geisha with the nearly nude and wild model figure for Americans.

I had a lot of registration issues, especially with the lip color and the jean shorts, but I think this one came out ok even though it was a bit crooked on the page.
